This wiki site has been created to provide background and ongoing information on the video game industry. Because the scope of this industry increases immensely when we include computer gaming, the site will focus mainly on the current-gen consoles: Microsoft's Xbox 360, Nintendo's Wii, and Sony's Playstation 3.

These consoles are the top of the line right now. However, had it not been for their predecessors, this industry would not be where it is right now. The fact that I love playing video games was definitely what motivated me to create this wiki, and I am sure many others share my enthusiasm for the gaming world. For example…

Anyone who has ever played a video game for more than 2 seconds…actually, I'm gonna take this one more step. Anyone who has ever heard of Nintendo knows at least one character up there. (Everyone loves the princess-rescuing, mustachioed, Italian plumber.) Of course, the more into video games you are, the more characters you know in that table. I must say…I don't know all of them. I know a lot of them, but not all.
Characters are just one important aspect of video games. However, there are always other factors for other kinds of games which have no characters, such as puzzle games…

…and strategy games…

Replay value and feelings of accomplishment can be very big factors on how people choose the games they play.
Video games have evolved from 8-bit games where a ball is bouncing from one side to another (oh, the joys of Pong…) to full-on first person shooters you can play with people online in beautifully-rendered environments. The expectations, then, are that they will continue to evolve and improve in quality. This wiki is meant to keep track on news articles and what is happening in this ever-changing industry.

| 07 Dec 2009 03:30 | Where Will I Watch my Shows? |
| Today's college students don't have much time to keep up with TV shows. Extracurricular activities, studying for classes and having a social life usually get in the way of watching TV. You end up watching TV during times when the shows you want aren't on, and even when you do have a TV show that fits into your schedule, there's two shows you ant to watch at the same time! What a problem! Luckily, there are a variety of ways to catch up on these shows you miss by using the Internet. I will go over two websites that allow me to catch up on my shows, and the pros and cons of each other: Hulu and Megavideo. | |

| There are so many pictures on the Web, yet thanks to image search engines, we can usually get what we need when looking for images. The titan of image search is Google Image Search. However, I have found one major flaw in this search engine's effectiveness: it doesn't get a lot of user-submitted content. | |

| In a previous blogpost I talked about why Joongel was amazing. It brings together the top 10 of anything and allows a search of all of them at the same time. When I was looking into how useful a custom search engine would be to my wiki site, I thought of the usefulness of Joongel, and decided it was a good idea. This brought me to Google Custom Search. | |
| 29 Nov 2009 08:12 | To Feed Or Not To Feed, That is the Question |
| Many websites nowadays contain RSS feeds designed to keep subscribers updated on the topic that the feed is on. These can be created by a specific website to contain all of its newest content, or users can create them using online tools such as Yahoo Pipes (here's how I used Pipes to help me in my BIT 330 project!) | |
| 28 Nov 2009 03:44 | Joongel is Amazing! |
| Joongel is my newest fascination on the Internet. Seriously, who came up with the idea to make the top 10 sites for [insert whatever category] searchable at the same time with the click of a button. Quite a few of the website's features have been very useful for my project, and they are especially useful for someone looking for ay kind of information related to video games. | |
